Book Cover Reveal: The Raptor

Updated: Aug 25, 2021

Hello dear readers! I am very excited to share my latest book cover illustration with you, for the book titled The Raptor by G.A. Finocchiaro. This book is a YA/Adult horror-fantasy that is described as being a supernatural love story that is dark, but with a glimmer of hope! As always with his stories, it's quite a ride filled with twists, spooks, interesting characters, and a lot of heart. Anyway, onto the reveal!

As you can see in the picture above, I illustrated both the front and back cover. It was such a fun project to work on! For the front cover, I focused on the dark, haunting love story and the intense emotions of love and loss and rage with a dash of creepy and a pinch of hope. I had an especially fun time painting the puddle and the fire.

For the back cover, I was excited to play with some slightly more surreal elements. The author wanted to feature a demon door and given the nightmare-ish tones of the book at times, I wanted to play up the dreamscape a bit with some floating, unsteady floorboards and emptiness to lead the focus to those intense, fire-filled eyes!

Here is the front cover illustration without the title dress:

As always, it was a pleasure to work with G.A. Finocchiaro on another book cover and dig further into the supernatural universe he is building. And as it happens, I am currently working on the cover for the next installment of this series! Keeping busy, as always. :)
